Skopje, 3 April 2025 (MIA) - A meeting between Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski and SDSM President Venko Filipche is currently taking place at the Government.
Ahead of the meeting, Filipche stated that he hopes for a constructive discussion and remains cautiously optimistic.
“I sincerely expect a constructive discussion. I am glad that the Prime Minister accepted the meeting immediately,” he said.
Filipche said that he will try to elaborate on the topics he raised during Wednesday’s press conference. He also expressed disappointment that some political parties attempted to introduce an ethnic dimension to the issue and firmly denied such claims.
“The call for an inter-party meeting was and still is open to all parties, given that the Prime Minister was the first to accept it immediately. We will discuss the topics that I believe should be jointly managed, as they have never been handled in this way before. I outlined these topics yesterday, and today I will try to explain them in more detail, along with some proposed approaches, just as I currently see them, without claiming that this is the only correct way. Of course, I am open to discussing all options. As for my expectations, as always, I would say that I remain a cautious optimist,” Filipche said.
When asked by a journalist, Filipche once again denied DUI’s claims, stressing that the meeting does not have any ethnic dimension.
“Everyone is invited, and all leaders should take part in the future meetings, as this is in the best interest of the country and all its citizens,” Filipche said.
Following the meeting, the leader of the opposition SDSM is expected to give a statement, while the Government has announced an official press release on the talks.
