Fifty percent of customs tariffs to be aligned with European Customs Tariff starting July 1, remaining 50 percent from January 1

Skopje, 1 June 2025 (MIA) – Fifty percent of customs tariffs will be aligned with the European Customs Tariff starting July 1, 2025, and the remaining 50 percent from January 1, 2026. This will provide an opportunity for manufacturing companies to increase their production, to have greater exports and greater income for companies, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Sunday in response to a reporter's question on the new amendments to the Law on Customs Tariff.

This is yet another acute problem the business community had, Mickoski pointed out, adding that all this is being done together with the chambers of commerce and the Association of Foreign Investors in the country.

"Another difficult legacy from the past, part of the parafiscal charges that made it difficult for both foreign and domestic producers to operate, because the customs tariffs on raw materials were not in line with the European Customs Tariff, and that is what we are doing through this legal solution," Mickoski said after Sunday's visit to the Public Health Institute.

Mickoski noted that the amendments are also aligning the customs tariff for the so-called electric energy accumulators or accumulator tanks, from the current 15 percent to 2.5 or 2.7 percent, which, he added, will dramatically facilitate the installation of such devices.
