Skopje, 5 August 2025 (MIA) - The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has launched an investigation into the Macedonian Basketball Federation due to nationalist chanting during the match between Macedonia and Romania on Saturday in Kumanovo.

“At this stage, we are collecting relevant reports in relation to the incident and working in close coordination with the national federations involved, as well as local authorities and law enforcement,” a FIBA representative has said.

The conduct by some of the supporters at the match has been condemned by the country’s basketball federation, the Ministry of Sport, and all political stakeholders in the country. The Interior Ministry is taking activities to sanction the perpetrators.
