Fetai - Abdic: OSCE support for managing seized assets and their social repurposing

Skopje, 22 January 2025 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister in charge of good governance, Arben Fetai, met on Wednesday with a delegation from the OSCE’s Secretariat of Transnational Organized Crime and Corruption, led by Project Officer Merima Abdic.
According to Fetai’s Office, the meeting addressed the implementation of a project focused on strengthening asset recovery efforts in the OSCE region.
At the meeting, Abdic outlined the project and highlighted that combating corruption remains a top priority for the OSCE, as well as for the project’s key supporters, the US and the EU. She also expressed, as noted in the press release, a willingness to share expertise on managing seized assets and their social repurposing through the project.
Deputy Prime Minister Fetai, as stated in the press release from his office, outlined his role as chair of the Interagency Coordination Body for Anti-Corruption and emphasized his commitment to the rapid approval of the new asset confiscation strategy, which is in the government procedure.
According to the press release, a special focus was placed on the OSCE’s assistance to institutions responsible for executing the strategy, along with the improvement and social repurposing of funds derived from the sale of confiscated assets.
