External trade volume drops in January: statistics

Skopje, 6 March 2026 )MIA) - The total value of exported goods from North Macedonia in January amounted to Mden 32 686.6 million (EUR 530.7 million), a 8.27% decrease compared to the same period last year, while imports stood at Mden 48 954.0 million denars (EUR 794.9 million), or 6.37% less than in January 2025, said the State Statistical Office on Friday.

The external trade by products by the Standard International Trade Classification shows that in the exports the most significant products were: supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of the seats of subgroup 821.1 and other supported catalysts.

In the imports, the most significant products were: platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), and electric current.

According to the total external trade volume, North Macedonia's most important trade partners in January were Germany, Great Britain, China, Greece and Serbia, which made up 52.0% of the total volume of trade. The EU member states accounted for 57.1% of the total trade.
