Exports down by 11.4% in January: statistics

Skopje, 7 March 2024 (MIA) – The total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in January 2024 amounted to 550.6 million euros, an 11.4% decrease compared to the same period last year, said the State Statistical Office in a press release Thursday.

The value of imported goods in the same period was 800.2 million euros, or 5.8% less than the same period last year.

The trade deficit in January 2024 was 249.6 million euros.

The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, not clad, plated or coated and other supported catalysts.

In the imports, the most significant products are petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form, platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form and electricity.

In January 2024, according to the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of North Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia.
