Evacuation under way in fire-hit regions in eastern North Macedonia
Delchevo, 5 August 2021 (MIA) – Inhabitants living in regions badly affected by a wildfire near the villages of Nov Istevnik and Star Istevnik in Delchevo, eastern North Macedonia, have been ordered to evacuate and transfer to the nearby town. “Due to the grave situation on the ground and uncontrolled spreading of the fire and strong winds, the inhabitants should evacuate so as to protect human lives,” Mayor of the Municipality of Delchevo Goran Trajkovski said. He urged the inhabitants to be very vigilant and refrain from moving in fire-hit regions. Helicopters have been dispatched to put out the flames. Over 100 people are involved in firefighting efforts as the region of Delchevo is battling the raging wildfire, MIA’s Delchevo correspondent reports, adding that earlier several houses were burnt down. https://youtu.be/7bTctajT9pA
