European Front to appeal SEC decisions before Administrative Court, press charges against SEC members

Skopje, 15 May 2024 (MIA) - The European Front will appeal the State Election Commission (SEC) decisions before the Administrative Court and press charges against the SEC members for violation of the voters' right to express their free will, said DUI spokesperson and Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani on Wednesday.

The move comes after the SEC accepted the complaints of several political parties over the May 8 parliamentary elections, resulting in a re-vote in seven polling stations in the fifth and sixth election districts.

"The local and international public witnessed a flagrant violation of the SEC procedures, partisan and institutional theft of the electoral will through an unlawful decision for a re-vote in precisely selected polling stations in the native places of the opposition leaders," said Osmani.

According to him, the goal of these decisions is to mitigate the defeat of the Worth It coalition and tarnish Albanian voters and the country, since "an ethnic Albanian is PM in charge of administering elections for the first time on record".

"We have decided to appeal these decisions before the Administrative Court but also press charges against SEC members for violation of the voters' right to manifest free will", said Osmani.

The Administrative Court is obliged to decide on the appeals within 48 hours upon submission.
