European affairs ministers discuss dispute with Bulgaria
Brussels, 23 November 2021 (MIA) – Slovenian State Secretary for European Affairs, Gašper Dovžan, said Tuesday that European affairs ministers discussed the enlargement and particularly the dispute between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, MIA’s Brussels correspondent reports. The ministers met in Brussels on Tuesday as part of the EU General Affairs Council (GAC), discussing the enlargement as one of the topics. The Slovenian State Secretary noted that increased focus was placed today on the Bulgarian – Macedonian dispute. “I ‘m glad there’s general support for the whole process, but there are still bilateral issues, particularly raised by Bulgaria. I hope that by the end of our EU Presidency we’ll be able to resolve the issues, this process must be positive,” said Dovžan. He gave the example of Slovenia, which had also resolved bilateral issues with neighbors during its negotiation process. “It’s about the credibility of the EU and the enlargement process. The enlargement policy is one of the most successful in the history of the EU,” Dovžan said.
