European Affairs Minister Murtezani meets Croatian Ambassador Tiganj

Skopje, 30 September 2024 (MIA) - Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani met Monday with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, Nives Tiganj. At the meeting, they reaffirmed the long-standing friendship and close relations between the two countries and assessed future opportunities for cooperation, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.

Minister Murtezani underlined Croatia’s role as a key partner in the development of bilateral relations, with a special emphasis on the accession talks. He touched upon improving cooperation through already established mechanism such as Twinning and TAIEX and noted that Croatia remains the country’s biggest partner in the Twinning projects, in areas such as rule of law, climate change, environment and aviation safety and security.

“Murtezani and Tiganj assessed options to formalize the enhanced bilateral cooperation, through technical and expert assistance that will ensure structured and continued dialogue with the Croatian institutions, considering Croatia’s successful experience as the last country to join the European Union,” the press release said.

In the context of the expanding cooperation, the Ministry said North Macedonia’s accession to INTERREG Adrion, INTERREG Euro-Med, URBACT IV and INTERREG Europe opens new opportunities for trans-regional cooperation.
