Skopje, 21 June 2023 (MIA) - The Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs backed the draft amendments to the law on audio and audiovisual media services, under a fast-track procedure, and forwarded them to the Parliament on Wednesday.
Minister of Information Society and Administration, Azir Aliu, also attended the session, but did not elaborate on the draft law.
According to the Parliament's website, the amendments are to align the law on audiovisual media services with the requirements defined in the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (EU) 2018/1808, which are related to regulating on-demand services and video-sharing platforms, as well as changes in the public's viewing habits.
Such changes create a legal framework that covers all services offering audiovisual content, regardless of the technology used to transmit the content, adds the Parliament's website.
