Europe House in Strumica marks first birthday
Strumica, 21 February 2022 (MIA) – A delegation of diplomats, comprised of EU Ambassador David Geer, Ambassador of Croatia Nives Tiganj, Ambassador of Germany Anke Holstein, Ambassador of Slovenia Milan Predan, Chargé d’affaires of Embassy of Bulgaria Dimitar Karastoyanov, on Monday visited Strumica to mark the first anniversary of the town’s Europe House. Since its inauguration on February 20, 2021, Europe House operates as the place of new generation in Strumica and engages with young people from both South-East and Eastern planning region of North Macedonia, the EU delegation in Skopje has said. In the past year, Europe House in Strumica organized over 180 events with more than 8,000 attendees, focused on projects in the field of art and culture. The diplomats were hosted by Strumica Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov to discuss the EU’s cooperation with the Municipality of Strumica. Europe House’s first birthday coincides with the application submitted by Strumica to “European Youth Capital 2025” – a title that has the potential to bring further investment in young people and open new possibilities for them. Ambassador Geer and Mayor Kostadinov encouraged young people in Strumica to keep on working on new initiatives and projects to develop and foster positive values in the town in eastern North Macedonia. During the trip, the diplomatic delegation also visited an open-air exhibition and concert performed by young activists, who have been involved in Europe House projects.
