ERC: Licences issued for photovoltaics with total installed capacity of 399 MW in 2023
- In 2023, licenses for generating clean energy through solar power were issued for installed electrical capacities totalling almost 399 MW, which is a an increase of over 160% compared to 2022, when licences were issued for photovoltaics with a total installed capacity of 152.2 MW, the Energy Regulatory Commission said in a press release.
Skopje, 26 January 2024 (MIA) — In 2023, licenses for generating clean energy through solar power were issued for installed electrical capacities totalling almost 399 MW, which is a an increase of over 160% compared to 2022, when licences were issued for photovoltaics with a total installed capacity of 152.2 MW, the Energy Regulatory Commission said in a press release.
"In just one year," ERC president Marko Bislimoski is quoted as saying in the release, "we have logged a fascinating growth of 160% in new installed electricity generation capacity."
According to Bislimoski, "every business day sees a new 1.5 MW included into the country's electrical power system."
"At this pace of new electricity production capacities from renewable sources, energy independence has been made significantly stronger," he said, pointing out that national electricity imports have dropped by a third.
The renewable power stations with a total installed electrical capacity of 551.2 MW put into place over the past two years can generate power for 175,500 households with average consumption of monthly electricity, the release adds. mr/
