Skopje, 6 May 2023 (MIA) - By the end of April, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has issued licenses for 161 photovoltaic power plants at a total capacity of 54.8 MWh.
"Energy transition is a reality and a direct response to the energy crisis. Over a period of 16 months, new 207 MWh-strong capacities using renewable energy sources have been connected to the grid, which is close to one bloc of power-mining complex (REK) Bitola. A confirmation of the increasing energy independence is the fact that electricity import in the first quarter of 2023 has been cut by more than half, from 30 to only 11 percent," says ERC president Marko Bislimoski.
In 2022, ERC issued licenses to 267 power plants using renewable sources, with a total capacity of 152.2 MWh. Of them, 106.5 MWh are photovoltaic plants, 36 MWh are wind farms, 7.2 MWh are small hydro-plants, while 2.5 MWh are biogas plants.
