Skopje, 16 June 2025 (MIA) — First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti hosted a meeting with Montenegro's Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development Damjan Culafic to discuss boosting bilateral cooperation in environmental protection, according to an official press release.

Meeting participants talked about renewing the bilateral memorandum of cooperation and taking steps to cooperate in wastewater management by sharing experiences and expertise in wastewater treatment.

They revieviewed plans on floodwater management, the regional EU4Green initiative and reporting in line with the standards of the European Environment Agency.

The two ministers also discussed potential cooperation in meeting the goals of the two countries' national energy and climate plans.

At the end of the meeting, Mexhiti and Culafic agreed that regional cooperation was key in successully implementing EU environmental standards. mr/
