Enikő Eszenyi awarded 'Actor of Europe' Lifetime Achievement Award in Resen

Resen, 7 July 2023 (MIA) - Hungarian actress and director, Enikő Eszenyi, was awarded the "Actor of Europe" Lifetime Achievement Award, which is traditionally awarded by the namesake international theatre festival in Resen on Thursday.

Eszenyi, winner of Hungarian prestigious state awards and Hungarian Order of Merit, an actress that has played numerous leading roles in plays, including Lady Anne, Lady Macbeth, Cleopatra, Rosalind, Nora in Ibsen's A Doll's House, best actress at the Hungarian Theatre Festival, the latest laureate at the festival in Resen.

"You are in Prespa and we name you ' Actor of Europe 2023,' in front of the Saraj, built during Europe's Belle Époque, at the same place where the legendary Ljuba Tadić from Serbia, cult actor Peter Brook, Bruce Meyers from London, Anna Peterson from the Strindberg Theatre in Stolkholm, 'Comédie-Française' director Marcel Bozonnet, Slovenian actress Milena Zupančič, and many others who are at the top of Europe's theatre received this award. Tonight, we give you real history and legend to play the imaginary and real, the role of the Hungarian princess Margaret from the Árpád dynasty, sister of King Saint Stephen, who married the son of the Balkan and Macedonian Tsar Samuel, prince Gavril Radomir," noted festival president Jordan Plevnesh.

Mayor Jovan Tozievski, in the name of the host city, greeted all the guests and reminded of the traditional host welcome, the festival's importance, and apart from Eszenyi, also gave awards to Lasko Dzhurovski, designer and typographer from Resen, who received the 'Key to Prespa' award.

At the festival opening night, artists Elena Hristova and Vladimir Stojchevski performed traditional songs in Macedonian, Greek and Albanian language. The festival continued with Jordan Plevnesh's play 'Luck is a New Idea in Europe,' as an International Theater Project of Academia Balkanika Europena, under the auspices of UNESCO. ssh/ik/
