Kumanovo museum to screen 'The Kokino Wedding' documentary

Kumanovo, 14 May 2025 (MIA) — As part of a series of free events held this week at the Kumanovo museum to celebrate International Museum Day, May 18, the ethnographic documentary film "The Kokino Wedding" will be screened Wednesday.

According to organizers, an interactive museum exhibit titled "Once Upon a Time" will open Thursday and a creative art workshop will be held Friday.

The series of events began Monday with an archaeology workshop for children. A launch for a new map of cultural monuments in the Kumanovo region was held Tuesday.

The events are intended to promote cultural heritage and bring the Kumanovo museum's activities closer to the wider audience, organizers said.

Also this week, the Kumanovo museum's gallery has put on display Miroslav Velichkovski's "Ambrosia and Nectar" solo show.

Admission to all events — as well as to the Kumanovo museum's permanent collection and the ASNOM Memorial Center in the village of Pelince — is free this week.

International Museum Day celebrations have been held for almost half a century at museums worldwide to raise awareness of their importance "as means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples," according to the International Council of Museums, which established the day in 1977. mr/
