Employees of North Macedonia's Post continue protest, demand September salaries and the state to use their services
Skopje, October 20, 2022 (MIA) - Two trade union organizations of the Post of North Macedonia continued their warning protest on Thursday during the employees' break. They demand that their September salary be paid, that the payment of salaries isn't delayed again in the future, their working conditions be improved and the state to use their services instead of hiring private post offices, in order to increase their incomes.
President of the Post Union, Boro Veligdenov, said the protest is because their salaries are overdue, as they should have been paid by the 15th of the month at the latest.
"In addition, as employees, we worry about our livelihood, about our jobs, i.e. about the future of our company, a problem that has been going on for years and the particular lack of interest from the Government to take a firm stand in overcoming the situation and improving the operations of the Macedonian Post. Macedonian Post is a state company that is of essential importance for the state and must exist as a post office and be the main service for citizens," Veligdenov pointed out.
He warned that if salaries are not paid by Tuesday, all employees of North Macedonia's Post will hold a protest in front of the Government. He said that on Wednesday they held a meeting with the Management Board, but they still haven't received an official answer."By the way, a plan and strategy for overcoming the situation has been underway, as soon as we receive them, the entire public will be informed. That is in fact what we, as a trade union, demand, not only a guarantee that we will receive a regular salary every month, but also that they present us with a strategy for how we will get out of the situation, that every next month we will have work first of all and that all employees will be paid , since we are talking about 2,200 employees, that is 2,200 families," Veligdenov added.
Darko Dimovski, president of the Federeation of Trade Unions said that on Tuesday they will submit a request to the Government and the management team, demanding that the Prime Minister and all ministers use the services of North Macedonia's Post.
"We cannot make tenders and hire private post offices, while our national post office, which has the state as its service, should be stopped and not make income from the letters that are brought to certain ministries, court rulings, etc. So, the solution is for the state to use the resources it has at its disposal - North Macedonia's Post which is owned by the state. That is the solution. We will demand that it be processed," said Dimovski. dk/nn/
