Skopje, 11 August 2022 (MIA) – The 2022/23 school year will begin on September 1, and the calendars organizing the work of the public elementary schools and high schools in the new school year have been adopted and published, said the Ministry of Education and Science in a press release on Thursday.
The Ministry pointed out that together with the Bureau for Development of Education and other relevant institutions, they have been intensely working on securing all necessary conditions for a successful school year.
“Multiple investment activities are ongoing such as the construction of new school facilities and reconstruction of current ones, construction of school gyms, acquiring equipment for certain schools, opening 265 science classrooms in elementary schools etc.,” said the Ministry.
Especially important, said the Ministry, is to emphasize that this is the second year of the phased implementation of the largest educational reform in primary education which should significantly improve the quality of education, and also make schools more interesting for the children.
According to the Ministry, all procedures for the approval of school textbooks for first, second, fourth and fifth grade are in different phases, therefore, in case of potential delays in these procedures, the pupils will learn from appropriate materials while waiting for their new schoolbooks. For the other grades, the procurement of textbooks is in the final stage and they are expected to be distributed to the schools later in August.
The Ministry informed that all textbooks for fourth grade and above will also be available online. ad/nn/
