Education Minister Janevska meets UNICEF representative Miller

Skopje, 10 July 2024 (MIA) - The Ministry of Education and Science and UNICEF will continue the fruitful cooperation aimed at ensuring quality education for every child, the Education Ministry said after a meeting between Minister Vesna Janevska and the Representative of UNICEF in North Macedonia, Lesley Miller. 

"Minister Janevska reaffirmed her commitment as well as the commitment of the new Government towards building a country young people will want to live and work in, adding that a fundamental aspect in this direction is providing tangible improvement of the educational system," reads the press release. 

"Interlocutors shared views on the strategic challenges that Macedonian education is currently facing and the activities and measures proposed to overcome them. Minister Janevska stressed the need for continuity of the education reforms undertaken so far, as well as for changes to the solutions regarding which there is public dissatisfaction. She noted that all revisions will be made through broad public debates involving all relevant stakeholders," adds the press release. 

The Minister pointed out that it is necessary to pay special attention to young people acquiring advanced information and communication knowledge and skills, in conditions of rapid changes in the world we live in, driven by innovation and technological development. She added that the Ministry sincerely counts on UNICEF's support in realizing the commitments, the press release reads.
