Skopje, 15 May 2024 (MIA) - The Economic Chamber of North Macedonia is ready to help in the networking efforts with local domestic companies which need to be fully included in the realization of the activities in all stages of the project for corridors VIII and X-d, concluded the Chamber’s President at a meeting Wednesday with the leadership of Bechtel-Enka.

According to a press release from the Economic Chamber, both sides agreed to boost their communication in order to facilitate the project's realization.

At the meeting, Azeski and the leadership of Bechtel-Enka spoke about the dynamics of the realization of planned activities. Azeski stressed the importance of realizing all activities on time, since “the realization of this crucial and largest infrastructure project is significant not only for the country but also for the entire region and beyond.”

According to the press release, the Bechtel-Enka leadership underlined they are currently working intensively on all preparatory works important for the realization of activities and are in constant coordination with the relevant domestic institutions.

The Bechtel-Enka leadership sought support from the Economic Chamber in its efforts to secure the workforce for the project, which is expected to reach a figure of 4.000 workers.

“The Economic Chamber will support any solution that means faster and higher quality activities during the realization of the project, since we believe this is the most significant infrastructure project in the next 10 years,” the press release said.

The contract with Bechtel-Enka over the construction of the corridors was signed in March 2023 and it foresees the construction of motorway sections Tetovo-Gostivar-Bukojchani and Trebenishta-Struga-Kjafasan as part of Corridor VIII and the Prilep-Bitola motorway sections as part of Corridor X-d.
