EC President Ursula von der Leyen to visit Skopje on Thursday

Skopje, 22 October 2024 (MIA) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will start a four-day trip to the Western Balkans on Wednesday, where she will meet with the leaders of Albania, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, and Montenegro.

This will be the occasion to discuss our Western Balkan partners’ progress on the EU path as well the EU's  EUR 6 billion Growth Plan, the EU Delegation in North Macedonia said in a press release.

On Thursday, following her visit to Tirana, EC President von der Leyen will travel to Skopje, where she will meet Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.

Von der Leyen and Mickoski will hold a press conference in the government’s media centre. Both will have their address and answer questions from journalists in the format 2+2.

Later in the day, President von der Leyen will continue her travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year's visit to the Western Balkans comes at a time when enlargement is at the top of EU agenda, which has been confirmed by President von der Leyen on several occasions, including recently, at the Berlin Process Summit and the Bled Strategic Forum.
