DW: Macedonian nationals record holders in deportations from Germany
Berlin, 26 August 2022 (MIA) – German authorities have deported 6,198 foreigners in the first half of 2022, the majority of which are from North Macedonia and Albania. Macedonians hold the infamous deportation record in the first 6 months of 2022, according to data from the German government. 454 out of the 6,198 deported citizens were Macedonians, according to Deutsche Welle. The data was revealed at the request of the parliamentary group of The Left in the German Bundestag. 402 out of the 6,198 deported citizens were Albanians, followed by Georgians and Turks. The coalition agreement between SPD, the Green Party and the Liberals making up the German government stipulates a deportation offense strategy in order to be more consistent about fulfilling the obligation to leave the country, said the German foreign ministry to the local media. “In the case of dangerous persons, there are regulations in place to make exile easier and orders to keep them in protective custody in anticipation of their deportation,” said the police. The Left Party strongly criticized the so-called “mini charter flights” regarding the deportation of foreigners forced to leave the country. “We’re speechless at the knowledge of how many resources the federal and provincial governments are willing to spend to exile people from the country,” Left spokeswoman Klara Bunger told the German media. According to the response of the federal government at the request of The Left, the government deported 35 people from Germany on 11 mini charter flights in the first half of 2022. 167 police officers patrolled the deportations, and the government spent EUR 580,000 on these flights. dk/ba/
