Skopje, 2 August 2023 (MIA) — A Dutch paraglider who was rescued from Galichica Mountain on Wednesday has sustained severe spinal injuries and is being transported by helicopter to Skopje, the Crisis Management Center said.

"The Ohrid Red Cross mountain rescue team arrived on the slopes of Galichica where the Dutch paraglider fell and immobilized the paraglider due to serious injuries to his spine," the CMC said in a press release.

He was taken on a police helicopter to Skopje to receive further medical care, the release added.

The Dutch paraglider was reported to have been badly injured while landing on the Macedonian side of Galichica earlier in the day. mr/
