Skopje, 19 August 2024 (MIA) — Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi met Monday with Turkish Ambassador Fatih Ulusoy for talks on deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.

According to a Ministry of Economy and Labor press release, Minister Durmishi thanked the ambassador for Türkiye's continuous support to the country since its independence.

"The Republic of Türkiye is one of our most important trade partners and a country that continuously invests in various sectors of the Macedonian economy as a strategic investment partner," the release quotes Durmishi as saying at the meeting.

"Trade figures show that last year the Republic of Türkiye was ranked seventh on the list of countries the Republic of North Macedonia has the largest volume of trade with," Durmishi said, also voicing his hope that the cooperation would deepen in the future.

The Ministry of Economy and Labor, he said, would be focused on supporting domestic and foreign companies as well as developing the labor market.

Another priority in the coming period, the economy minister added, would be to create conditions for increasing trade through intensifying cooperation between businesses from the two countries. mr/
