DUI set to elect new presidency
Tetovo, 4 October 2022 (MIA) – DUI leader Ali Ahmeti met Tuesday with the so-called “fiery group” that wants to see reforms in the party. After the meeting, Ahmeti said the intraparty debate would continue, with a new presidency set to be elected in mid-October. “Today we talked with long-standing associates, whom I have gone through very important processes and successes with. The debate returns to the party. We will hold a Central Assembly on October 15, focusing on the political situation but also electing a new presidency,” Ahmeti told a press conference. Asked whether “the fire has been put out”, the DUI leader said there was no fire in the first place. “We will continue with the discussions. There is no fire, no flame, DUI has never made efforts to extinguish diverse opinions but on the contrary, we have always made the right decisions through respect. Therefore, there is and there will be no fire,” said Ahmeti. MP Izet Mexhiti, who is part of the so-called ‘fiery group”, said he was satisfied from the meeting. “Debate will find its way back in DUI, party bodies will decide over our demands,” said Mexhiti when asked about their call for the replacement of Deputy PM Artan Grubi.
