Dispute between organized crime prosecution and Financial Police uncovers systemic shortcomings, says Ivanovska
Skopje, 9 August 2022 (MIA) - The dispute between the Public Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption and the Financial Police Office uncovers the systemic shortcomings in the functioning of the two institutions, says Biljana Ivanovska, Head of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption. The country needs to build strong institutions that will put a spotlight on all irregularities, Ivanovska tells Sitel TV on Tuesday. "As far as I know, all cases sent to either institution are not being distributed systematically or electronically via a software. They are distributed by the heads of the institutions, which leaves room for those at the helm to act subjectively. There is also a high risk for blackmail and corruption. This must be eliminated," notes Ivanovska. Had there been a systemic approach to the distribution of cases, a search wouldn't have been ordered in the first place, according to her. All anonymous complaints sent to the anti-corruption commission are registered in a software before being forwarded to a commission member and a member's advisor to work with them, Ivanovska explains making a comparison.
