Dermalog to send 200 fingerprint scanners to North Macedonia on Wednesday: SEC head
Skopje, 24 August 2021 (MIA) – German company Dermalog is set to send 200 fingerprint scanners to Skopje on Wednesday. After they undergo customs formalities, they will probably arrive at the offices of the State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday, SEC president Aleksandar Dashtevski told MIA on Tuesday afternoon. Once the scanners arrive in North Macedonia, Dermalog engineers will hold a training for users. Dashtevski stressed that everything will be prepared in time for the local elections, scheduled for October 17. Fingerprint scanners will be used for the first time in North Macedonia at the upcoming local elections to identify voters. A contract was signed with German company Dermalog for the procurement of fingerprint scanners and their upkeep for the next four election cycles. The rest of the 4,000 fingerprint scanners are set to arrive in North Macedonia by October 1.
