Deputy PM Marichikj discusses tasks on EU path and role of Parliament with Swedish MPs Ernkrans and Dibrani

Skopje, 30 March 2023 (MIA) - North Macedonia's commitments and tasks on the EU path and the role of the Parliament in the dynamics of the negotiations were in the focus of the meeting of Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj with deputy-chair of the Committee on EU Affairs in the Swedish Parliament, Matilda Ernkrans, and MP Adnan Dibrani, in Stockholm on Thursday.

Deputy PM Marichikj, who is paying a two-day visit to Sweden, said progress would depend on the proactive approach and cooperation by the Parliament in meeting the commitments and tasks, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release.

"Reforms and unhindered adoption of the European law will speed up the Euro-integration process, whereas support and exchange of experiences with Swedish MPs will be of great help on this path," said Marichikj.

Interlocutors voiced satisfaction from the focus of the Swedish EU Presidency on the Western Balkans, noting that North Macedonia should seize the moment and the goodwill of member-states for the country's progress in the negotiations.

The Swedish MPs reaffirmed the excellent cooperation between the countries' parliaments, adding that North Macedonia can count on the support for enhancement of parliamentary procedures, especially during the Swedish EU Presidency.

On Friday, Deputy PM Marichikj is set to meet with Swedish Minister for EU Affairs, Jessika Roswall, reads the press release.
