Deputy PM condemns Russian aggression, calls for war’s end at Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit

Skopje, 11 June 2025 (MIA) - We stand united in the face of challenges that threaten peace, security, and international order. We firmly condemn the Russian aggression and demand an immediate end to the war, said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti in his address Wednesday at the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit held in Odessa, Ukraine.

Mexhiti thanked for the hospitality of the Ukrainian officials and reaffirmed North Macedonia’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Deputy PM stressed the country’s commitment to enhanced regional cooperation and the building of a safe, peaceful, and democratic Europe.

According to Mexhiti’s Office, the Summit, which was opened by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, represents a continuation of the previous meetings held in Athens, Tirana and Dubrovnik, with the participation of high representatives of the countries from Southeast Europe. The main goal of the Summit is to support Ukraine and to strengthen regional cooperation and security.

On his official Facebook profile, the First Deputy Prime Minister published a post stressing the country stands on the right side of history in supporting Ukraine "in its titanic fight for freedom and democracy”.

“In these difficult times for European peace and security, we firmly stand with Ukraine, which is fighting for the ideals of freedom and democracy,” Mexhiti said.
