Skopje, 8 August 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Defense Slavjanka Petrovska and Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Vasko Gjurchinovski, paid a visit Tuesday to the members of the Army of North Macedonia who are preparing to depart to Slovenia and assist the Slovenian forces in dealing with the consequences of the large-scale flooding in the allied country.
During her visit, the Defense Minister addressed the members of the Army.
“Slovenia is one of our closest allies, and today they need you, your commitment, and your professionalism. With your readiness to depart to the country, you are demonstrating that you are a true protector not only of the Macedonian citizens, but also of the citizens of all allied countries. I am grateful that, like many past occasions, this time too, you accepted this challenge and are leaving motivated and willing to help the Slovenian people. North Macedonia and Slovenia are friendly countries, and we are doing everything in our power to help. I am glad that we immediately responded positively after yesterday’s request. Do your best, just as our friends from Slovenia did when helping us with the wildfires. Help every Slovenian citizen with your self-sacrifice and strength,” said the Minister.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Minister stated that the Government will adopt a decision on sending a contingent of 100 Army members to Slovenia, to respond to the needs of the Slovenian Army and the Slovenian state.
