Defense Minister Misajlovski meets Slovenian counterpart Sajovic

Skopje, 17 February 2025 (MIA) - Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski met with his Slovenian counterpart Borut Sajovic on Monday as part of his official visit to Slovenia.

Misajlovski assessed the defense relations between the two countries as an example of how “two exceptionally friendly and allied countries” should cooperate, noting they are based on mutual respect and firm trust.

“We are cooperating in many areas of defense – anti-air defense, logistics and public procurement, military intelligence, inspection, the NATO planning process and many others. Not only do our soldiers train together, but they also carry the burden of the Alliance’s collective defense together, serving in NATO’s multinational forces in Latvia,” Misajlovski said at a joint press conference with Minister Sajovic.

The Defense Minister also touched upon Slovenian assistance in the fight against wildfires last summer, stressing that “the professionalism of the members of the Slovenian armed forces, police and civil protection and their self-sacrifice was noted and immensely appreciated”.

In an act of gratitude, according to the Ministry, Misajlovski will present recognitions to the members of the Slovenian police, army and civil protection service that were actively involved in the fight against the wildfires.

Minister Sajovic assessed defense cooperation as “very good” and voiced firm support for the country’s membership in the European Union, noting its benefits both for the living standard and regional security.

After their meeting, the two ministers attended the signing of the bilateral cooperation agreement for 2025.
