Skopje, 26 October 2023 (MIA) — Customs agents at the Blace border crossing have prevented an attempt to illegally put onto the local market 355,000 denars' worth of power tools and mobile phone accessories, the Customs Administration said in a press release.

According to the release, two Macedonian citizens' vehicles were selected for a detailed inspection after they crossed the border from Kosovo into North Macedonia.

In the trunk of the first car, customs officers found undeclared power tools worth 83,841 denars that the driver would have had to pay customs duties on amounting to 16,241 denars.

In the trunk of the second car as well as in and behind the front passenger seat, customs officers found undeclared 453 pieces of mobile phone accessories.

The contraband included headphones, chargers and charger cables, audio adapters, micro SD memory cards, and mobile phone screen protectors with a total worth of 271,167 denars, which the driver would have had to pay customs duties on amounting to 51,547 denars.

The smuggled goods have been seized and charges have been filed, the release adds. mr/
