Crisis HQ recommends that schools open on Feb. 1 amid Covid surge
Skopje, 17 January 2022 (MIA) – The main crisis coordination headquarters (HQ) tasked with handling the coronavirus pandemic at a session on Monday night recommended that due to surge in Covid cases across the country the school year should resume on February 1, 2022. The body also urged parents to strongly adhere to coronavirus protection measures, the government said. After being forwarded, the government has been discussing the recommendation at a session that began at 9:30 pm. The first session of the main coordination crisis headquarters was chaired by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski. Head of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, doctor Zharko Karadzovski, and ZELS President, Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska were also in attendance. “Commission President Karadzovski presented the current COVID-19 epidemiological situation while the main point of discussion were the options to resume in-person classes throughout the school year. The Commission for Infectious Diseases and the Health Ministry will inform about the epidemiological situation more frequently so as to allow recommendations to be adjusted if necessary,” said the government in a press release.
