COVID-19 pandemic: 429 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, 5 deaths, 95 reinfections
Skopje, 23 August 2022 (MIA) — Of the 1,284 SARS-CoV-2 tests done in North Macedonia's laboratories over the past 24 hours, 429 came back positive for the airborne virus. Of them, 95 were confirmed reinfections. And five deaths have been added to the country's official COVID-19 death toll, which has now reached 9,455, health authorities said Tuesday. According to the Ministry of Health citing Institute of Public Health data, there are now 2,877 active SARS-CoV-2 cases nationwide, of which 1,119 in Skopje. Officially, 572 people recovered from their acute infection. One person in Skopje died from SARS-CoV-2 in the past 24 hours. They died in hospital, at age 70. Four other people were added to the coronavirus death toll after their deaths were logged by health authorities between Aug. 13 and 18, 2022. They were from Skopje (aged 73), Bitola (aged 82), Strumica (aged 82) and Ohrid (aged 49). Two of them died at home and two in hospital. Since the start of the pandemic, 9,455 people have died in North Macedonia from SARS-CoV-2. The country's laboratories have performed a total of 2,144,544 coronavirus tests, officially logging 338,549 COVID-19 cases and declaring 326,217 recoveries. mr/
