COVID-19: 978 new cases, 24 patients die
Skopje, 28 August 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia on Saturday registered 978 new infections and 24 fatalities after a total of 7,452 COVID-19 tests were conducted in labs across the country in the past 24 hours. Out of the confirmed cases, 405 were recorded in Skopje, the Health Ministry said in a press release, citing Public Health Institute data. Of the 24 fatalities, Skopje registered six deaths, Tetovo-4 and Strumica-3. Veles, Gostivar and Ohrid recorded two deaths each, while Kumanovo, Bitola, Struga, Kochani and Debar one each. The deceased were aged 39-82. In the past 24 hours, 524 people recovered from the virus. At the moment, 14,127 cases are active nationwide, of which 5,214in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has recorded 174,667 COVID-19 cases and 154,689 recoveries. The death toll has reached 5,842. A total of 1,145,081 COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far.
