Covid-19: 7,705 active cases, 1,081 newly diagnosed, 15 deaths
Skopje, 18 August 2021 (MIA) — Over the past 24 hours, North Macedonia logged 1,081 new Covid-19 cases from 6,802 tests done in the country, and 15 people aged 37 to 79 died from coronavirus-related complications, according to the Ministry of Health on Wednesday. Of the 1,081 new Covid-19 cases, 314 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Gostivar – 187, Tetovo – 160, Kumanovo – 84, Strumica – 60, Kichevo – 47, Ohrid – 38, Debar – 30, Struga – 27, Prilep – 25, Bitola – 20, Shtip and Resen – 12 each, Radovish – 11, Veles and Kochani – 9 each, Berovo and Vinica – 6 each, Kratovo – 5, Kavadarci and Sveti Nikole – 4 each, Probishtip – 3, Negotino and Pehchevo – 2 each, Delchevo, Valandovo, Krushevo and Makedonski Brod – 1 each. Of the 15 people who died on Tuesday from Covid-19 complications, three died in Skopje (aged 37, 43 and 49), Kumanovo (aged 46, 55 and 63), Tetovo (aged 60, 65 and 79) and Gostivar (aged 53, 69 and 77) and one person each in Strumica (aged 52), Struga (aged 43) and Kichevo (aged 77). All of them died in hospital. In the past 24 hours, 91 people recovered from the virus. At the moment, 7,705 cases are active nationwide, of which 2,520 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,079,818 tests, recording 164,529 Covid-19 cases and 151,235 recoveries. The death toll has reached 5,589. mr/
