COVID-19: 561 new cases, 507 patients recover, 29 die
Skopje, 17 September 2021 (MIA) – Over the past 24 hours, North Macedonia registered 561 new COVID-19 cases from 4,384 tests done in the country, 507 patients recovered and 29 people died from coronavirus-related complications, health authorities said on Friday. New cases were recorded in Skopje –249, Kumanovo – 49, Strumica – 40, Ohrid – 30, Shtip – 25, Tetovo – 23, Prilep – 18, Kavadarci – 16, Bitola – 14, Veles – 12, Kichevo – 10, Gostivar – 9, Radovish – 8, Kochani – 7, Struga and Sveti Nikole – 6 each, Resen and Debar – 5 each, Gevgelija, Berovo, Vinica and Makedonska Kamenica – 4 each, Negotino – 3, Kriva Palanka, Delchevo, Valandovo and Kratovo – 2 each, Probishtip and Bogdanci – 1 each. Of the 29 people who died from coronavirus-related complications, 13 died in Skopje (aged 88, 76, 70, 70, 69, 68, 67, 66, 56, 54, 53, 40 and 2), three in Kumanovo (aged 84, 69 and 39), two each in Tetovo (aged 69 and 68), Strumica (aged 76 and 68) and Ohrid (aged 88 and 67) and one person each in Gostivar (aged 71), Kichevo (aged 62), Debar (aged 60), Kratovo (aged 72), Radovish (aged 67), Kriva Palanka (aged 69) and Resen (aged 72). The two-year-old child among the fatalities had been born with congenital malformations, and diagnosed with bacterial sepsis in a newborn. The child had previously been treated at hospital and undergone several surgeries at the clinics for pediatric diseases, pediatric surgery and neurosurgery. During the last admission to the Clinic for Pediatric Surgery due to malnutrition and dehydration, in line with the Covid-19 protocols the child was tested for the virus, and had a positive result. Due to complications, exitus letallis occurs, the Ministry said. At the moment, 13,008 cases are active nationwide, of which 5,798 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, a total of 1,242,490 tests have been made, recording 186,010 COVID-19 cases and 166,606 recoveries. The death toll has reached 6,396.
