COVID-19: 472 new cases, 498 patients recover, 14 die
Skopje, 19 October 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia on Tuesday registered 472 new COVID-19 infections after a total of 3,431 tests were conducted in labs across the country in the past 24 hours. Fourteen fatalities and 498 recovered patients were also registered in the same time period, the Ministry of Health said in a press release.
Most new cases were registered in Skopje – 222 followed by Kumanovo – 47, Prilep – 30, Veles – 23, Bitola – 22, Kavadarci – 16, Kochani – 16, Shitp – 15, Gevgelija – 9, Tetovo – 8, Ohrid – 8, Kriva Palanka – 8, Kichevo – 7, Resen – 6, Delchevo – 4, Vinica –4, Gostivar – 3, Strumica – 3, Radovish – 3, Berovo – 3, Probishtip – 3, Negotino – 2, Sveti Nikole – 2, Debar – 2, Valandovo – 1, Kratovo – 1, Bogdanci – 1, Krushevo – 1, Demir Hisar – 1, Makedonska Kamenica – 1.
Eight deaths were reported in the past 24 hours: five in Skopje (aged 86, 77, 77, 68 and 43), two in Kochani (85 and 68) and one in Vinica (47). All patients died in hospital, said the press release.
Additionally, six more deaths were recorded in the register of COVID-19-diagnozed fatalities according to the My Appointment e-service, dated from Sept. 18 until Oct. 12.
At the moment, 6,719 cases are active nationwide, of which 3,407 in Skopje.
Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,347,969 tests, recording 197,669 COVID-19 cases and 183,972 recoveries.
The death toll has reached 6,978.
