COVID-19: 333 new infections and 27 deaths
Skopje, 23 August 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia on Monday reported 333 new infections and 27 fatalities after a total of 3,022 COVID-19 tests were conducted in labs across the country in the past 24 hours. Out of the confirmed cases, 206 were registered in Skopje, the Health Ministry said Monday citing Public Health Institute data. Of the 27 fatalities, Skopje registered eight deaths (aged 54, 62, 64, 64, 64, 65, 69, and 70) and Gostivar four with the youngest being 53. Tetovо, Kumanovo and Kichevo registered three deaths each and Strumica, Debar, Prilep, Struga, Bitola and Sveti Nikole one each, said the press release. In the past 24 hours, 367 people were registered as having recovered from the virus. At the moment, 11,042 cases are active nationwide, of which 3,829 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has recorded 169,202 COVID-19 cases and 152,465 recoveries. The death toll has reached 5,695. A total of 1,111,451 COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far.
