Covid-19: 2,000 new cases, 35 deaths, 267 reinfections
Skopje, 1 February 2022 (MIA) — Of the 5,779 people tested for Covid-19 in North Macedonia over the past 24 hours, 2,000 were diagnosed with the coronavirus, 267 of them for the second time. Twenty-three people, aged 35 to 90, died from covid, and another 12 people were added to the coronavirus death toll after they were reported as having died from covid between Jan. 24 and 30, 2022, the Ministry of Health said Tuesday. Of the 2,000 new cases, 1,096 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Bitola – 123, Kavadarci – 108, Kumanovo – 96, Tetovo – 75, Prilep – 60, Veles – 58, Gevgelija – 39, Strumica – 38, Gostivar – 36, Ohrid – 30, Struga – 26, Valandovo – 25, Negotino – 24, Kichevo – 23, Delchevo – 20, Resen and Radovish – 19 each, Kochani – 13, Kriva Palanka – 12, Shtip – 8, Sveti Nikole and Demir Hisar – 7 each, Debar and Bogdanci – 6 each, Vinica and Kratovo – 5 each, Makedonska Kamenica – 4, Berovo and Demir Kapija – 3 each, Krushevo and Makedonski Brod – 2 each, Probishtip and Pehchevo – 1 each. In the past 24 hours, 806 people recovered and 35 people died from covid. Six people died from covid in Skopje (aged 35, 62, 64, 70, 75, and 83), three people died from covid in Bitola (aged 71, 73, and 90), three people died from covid in Strumica (aged 63, 78, and 82), two people died from covid in Sveti Nikole (aged 59 and 62) and one person died from covid in Veles (aged 64), Vinica (aged 67), Kichevo (aged 79), Kochani (aged 63), Kriva Palanka (aged 80), Ohrid (aged 84), Prilep (aged 77), Struga (aged 86) and Shtip (aged 69). All of them died in hospital. The 12 deaths added to the coronavirus death toll were logged by health authorities between Jan. 23 and 30, 2022, and include three people from Skopje, two from Kavadarci, two from Struga, one from Debar, one from Sveti Nikole, one from Radovish, one from Shtip, and one from Veles. They were aged 61 to 89 when they died. Eleven of them died at home and one died in hospital. According to the MoH, 13 of the 35 people who died from covid were vaccinated, and 34 of them had underlying health conditions. At the moment, there are 14,783 active cases nationwide, of which 8,143 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,794,030 coronavirus tests, recording 270,897 covid cases and 247,670 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,444. mr/
