Covid-19: 14,878 active cases, 760 new infections, 23 deaths
Skopje, 2 September 2021 (MIA) — Over the past 24 hours, North Macedonia logged 760 new Covid-19 cases from 5,724 tests done in the country, and 23 people died, aged 47 to 83, from coronavirus-related complications, health authorities said on Thursday evening.
According to the Ministry of Health citing Public Health Institute data, of the 760 new Covid-19 cases, 325 were diagnosed in Skopje.
New cases were also recorded in Kumanovo – 65, Tetovo – 63, Gostivar – 37, Strumica – 31, Kichevo – 28, Struga – 26, Ohrid, Shtip and Debar – 24 each, Kavadarci – 18, Veles – 17, Prilep, Bitola and Radovish – 9 each, Kochani – 8, Negotino and Delchevo – 5 each, Sveti Nikole, Probishtip, Kratovo and Makedonska Kamenica – 4 each, Resen and Berovo – 3 each, Kriva Palanka, Vinica, Bogdanci and Makedonski Brod – 2 each, Gevgelija, Valandovo and Krushevo – 1.
Of the 23 people who died from coronavirus-related complications, 9 died in Skopje (aged 82, 81, 79, 71, 70, 60, 59, 58 and 48), 2 each in Kumanovo (aged 77 and 67), Prilep (aged 81 and 78), Gostivar (aged 74 and 65), Strumica (aged 83 and 68), Kichevo (aged 73 and 71) and Debar (aged 75 and 59), and one person each in Tetovo (aged 48) and Vinica (aged 47). All of them died in hospital.
In the past 24 hours, 644 people recovered from the virus.
At the moment, 14,878 cases are active nationwide, of which 5,899 in Skopje.
Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,169,901 tests, recording 178,159 Covid-19 cases and 157,294 recoveries. The death toll has reached 5,987. mr/
