Covid-19: 1,348 new cases, 8 deaths, 145 reinfections
Skopje, 16 January 2022 (MIA) — Of the 6,141 people tested for covid in North Macedonia over the past 24 hours, 1,348 were diagnosed with covid, and 145 of them for the second time. Eight people, aged 55 to 82, died from covid, the Ministry of Health said Sunday.
Of the 1,348 new cases, 677 were diagnosed in Skopje. New cases were also recorded in Bitola – 125, Kumanovo – 82, Prilep – 72, Ohrid and Strumica – 47 each, Veles – 38, Tetovo – 36, Shtip – 35, Kavadarci – 27, Gostivar – 17, Sveti Nikole – 16, Gevgelija and Resen – 13 each, Kochani – 12, Struga – 11, Kichevo, Negotino and Kriva Palanka – 10 each, Radovish and Krushevo – 8 each, Vinica – 6, Delchevo – 5, Demir Hisar and Makedonski Brod – 4 each, Berovo, Probishtip, Kratovo and Bogdanci – 3 each, Debar, Makedonska Kamenica and Pehchevo – 1 each.
In the past 24 hours, 784 people recovered and eight people died from covid.
Four people died from covid in Skopje (aged 55, 76, 76, and 82), one person died in Prilep (aged 64), one died in Bitola (aged 77), one died in Strumica (aged 60), and one died in Demir Hisar (aged 71). All of them died in hospital.
At the moment, there are 16,132 active cases nationwide, of which 8,609 in Skopje.
Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,706,696 coronavirus tests, recording 244,632 covid cases and 220,400 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,100. mr/
