COVID-19: 1,172 new cases, 553 recoveries, 12 deaths
Skopje, 20 January 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia registered 1,172 new COVID-19 infections after 4,021 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, as well as 12 deaths and 553 recoveries, the Health Ministry said on Thursday. Of the new cases, 629 were registered in Skopje followed by Bitola – 109, Kumanovo – 64, Ohrid – 53, Shtip – 36, Tetovo – 35, Kavadarci – 30, Veles – 27, Kichevo – 27, Prilep – 25, Strumica – 24, Gostivar – 23, Resen – 20, Gevgelija – 19, Struga – 11, Negotino – 9, Sveti Nikole – 7, Kriva Palanka – 5, Bogdanci – 5, Kochani – 3, Radovish – 2, Vinica – 2, Berovo – 1, Debar – 1, Valandovo – 1, Kratovo – 1, Krushevo – 1, Demir Hisar – 1, and Dojran – 1. In addition, 145 of the total number of new cases (1,172) are reinfections. Twelve deaths were registered in the past 24 hours, including six in Skopje (aged 65, 69, 70, 78, 83 and 84), three in Bitola (32, 72 and 79), one in Veles (30), one in Ohrid (63), and one in Prilep (62). All patients died in hospital. According to the Covid-diagnosed fatality registry, one person died on Jan. 15, 2022. Five of those who died (n=13) have been fully vaccinated. At the moment, 19,104 cases are active nationwide, including 10,286 in the capital. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has performed a total of 1,727,856 tests, recording 250,876 COVID-19 cases and 223,606 recoveries. The death toll has reached 8,166.
