COVID-19: 1,166 new cases, 29 patients die
Skopje, 25 August 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia on Wednesday registered 1,166 new infections and 29 fatalities after a total of 6,458 COVID-19 tests were conducted in labs across the country in the past 24 hours. Out of the confirmed cases, 375 were recorded in Skopje, the Health Ministry said in a press release, citing Public Health Institute data. Of the 29 fatalities, Tetovo registered six deaths, Struga-5 and Skopje-4. Gostivar, Kumanovo and Strumica reported three deaths each, while Kichevo, Bitola, Veles, Makedonska Kamenica and Pehchevo one each. The youngest fatality was aged 37. In the past 24 hours, 232 people recovered from the virus. At the moment, 12,673 cases are active nationwide, of which 4,451 in Skopje. Since the onset of the epidemic, North Macedonia has recorded 171,576 COVID-19 cases and 153,148 recoveries. The death toll has reached 5,755. A total of 1,124,993 COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far.
