Court sets trial date in double murder case on July 30

Skopje, 10 July 2024 (MIA) - A trial date has been set on July 30 (Tuesday) in the case concerning the murder of 14-year-old Vanja Gjorchevska from Skopje and 74-year-old Panche Zhezhovski from Veles. Judge Ivica Stefanovski has been assigned through the Automated Court Case Management Information System (ACCMIS).

The Skopje-based Criminal Court on July 8 dismissed as unfounded the appeals made by the defendants in the case concerning the murder of 14-year-old Vanja Gjorchevska and 74-year-old Panche Zhezhovski and approved the indictment filed by the Skopje Public Prosecutor's Office.

“After reviewing and assessing the indictment as well as the appeals delivered by the defense of the suspects, the Court has adopted a decision with which it dismisses the appeals of the defense as unfounded and approves the indictment in full,” the Criminal Court said in a press release.

The Court noted that the procedure against prime suspect Lj.P. is still in the investigation stage.

In May 2024, the Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against four people in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Vanja Gjorchevska and 74-year-old Panche Zhezhovski. The investigation of two other people is still ongoing – including prime suspect Ljupcho Palevski-Palcho who was recently extradited to the country, after he escaped to Turkey.
