Skopje, 10 January 2024 (MIA) - EU has clearly highlighted its commitment to the European integration of North Macedonia and the Western Balkans. EU accession depends on the implementation of reforms, said EU Ambassador David Geer on Wednesday.

Ambassador Geer was quizzed by reporters if North Macedonia was getting further away from the EU considering the impasse linked to the constitutional amendments, whereas the European far-right is gaining momentum ahead of the European Parliament elections.

"I will not speculate on election results but will say that EU was extremely clear in highlighting its commitment to the Western Balkans in December, when it took the historic decision of opening the accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. You will join the EU if you make the reforms and follow the path we jointly agreed upon," said Ambassador Geer.
