Skopje, 3 December 2024 (MIA) - After years at the bottom, for the first time this year we, as a country, have the chance to reach foreign direct investment inflows of up to EUR 1 billion, said Government spokesperson Marija Miteva at a press conference Tuesday.
“Foreign direct investments in Macedonia during the January – September period reached EUR 838 million, which is an increase of EUR 348 million compared to the same period last year and is a convincing record for the past 20 years. Data shows that just in the third quarter of this year, inflows of foreign direct investments in Macedonia reached EUR 281 million,” Miteva said at the press conference.
According to Miteva, this is due to the “economic and political stability presented by the Government; the predictability and stability that businesses have; the commitment in the processes and the approach of zero tolerance for corruption”.
“During this period, increased net inflows can be registered on the basis of intercompany debt, which in previous years were noted as an outflow. This inflow stands at EUR 219 million. We have also registered an inflow based on equity capital of EUR 39.9 million and reinvested profits of EUR 22 million,” Miteva said.
The spokesperson said the Government is also investing in domestic businesses through the EUR 250 million loan.
“All these economic policies will result in accelerated growth, increased production and a better living standard for the citizens,” Miteva said.
