Council of Public Prosecutors to appoint acting chief prosecutor on Friday
- The Council of Public Prosecutors is expected to appoint an acting chief public prosecutor on Friday who would succeed the current chief prosecutor, Ljubomir Joveski, whose term ends on Monday.
Skopje, 20 December 2023 (MIA) – The Council of Public Prosecutors is expected to appoint an acting chief public prosecutor on Friday who would succeed the current chief prosecutor, Ljubomir Joveski, whose term ends on Monday.
The acting chief prosecutor will remain in charge until the selection of a new chief public prosecutor, the procedure for which is currently underway. Three candidates have applied for the position – Fatime Fetai from the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office - Skopje, Lidija Raichevikj from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office - Skopje and Ljupcho Kocevski from the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of North Macedonia.
Additionally, at a session Wednesday, the Council of Public Prosecutors decided to appoint prosecutor Lile Stefanova to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of North Macedonia. Naum Panovski from the Skopje-based Higher Public Prosecutor's Office was also appointed to the Public Prosecutor's Office. Stefanova was a part of the now defunct Special Public Prosecutor’s Office (SJO). The only active case she is currently leading is “Titanic”.
