Council of Public Prosecutors dismisses Vilma Ruskovska in unanimous vote

Council of Public Prosecutors dismisses Vilma Ruskovska in unanimous vote

Skopje, 23 November 2023 (MIA) – At a session Thursday, the Council of Public Prosecutors unanimously voted in favor of dismissing the former head of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption, Vilma Ruskovska, from her role as public prosecutor.

In order to protect the reputation and integrity of the public prosecutors against which the procedure was led, the discussion of the item was done behind closed doors, while the vote was public. The Council unanimously rejected Ruskovska’s appeal over her dismissal as “unfounded”, and proceeded to unanimously adopt the proposal of the Disciplinary Committee for her dismissal.

After the session, the President of the Council of Public Prosecutors, Dushica Dimitrieska, told the media that Ruskovska’s dismissal is due to a serious disciplinary violation, which will be thoroughly explained in a written decision.

“The written decision will be available on the Council’s website, and you will be able to read more about it there,” said Dimitrieska.

After a search carried out at the Financial Police Office by the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption on July 18, 2022, Chief Public Prosecutor Ljubomir Joveski suspended Ruskovska and initiated disciplinary proceedings against three prosecutors.
